What is InP’s full name? The full name is indium phosphide . Indium phosphide (also known as pitch luster) is a chemical material, consisting of dark gray crystals. It is created by heating and reacting metallic indium with red phosphorus inside a quartz tube. Indium-phosphorus binary semiconductor InP is composed of both indium, and phosphorus. It has the same face-centered cubic crystal structure as GaAs, and most IIIV semiconductors.

INP is the base for three primary application areas including optoelectronics components, high speed electronic devices and solar devices. INP components can also be used to open a range of electromagnetic spectrum between microwaves and infrared. The terahertz range is not fully utilized but it contains a combination of high-frequency electromagnetic waves and high-optical characteristics.
